The Bakehouse Cafe and Roasts

At the heart of Turangi’s shopping district lies The Bakehouse Cafe and Roast, a quaint and charming family owned delicatessen offering a range of hot meals and cabinet favorites. The range is as impressive as it is diverse, covering all sorts of palates and appetites. With ample seating for several groups of guests, complimented by comfortable booth seating overlooking the promenade, you are bound to find yourself savoring every mouthful! Whilst the staff may not be as congenial as other establishments in the area, they are polite, accommodating and remarkably expeditious! One patron in our party purchased the cafe style rump steak, which was prepared as per his liking with a side of fries and salad in 10 minutes. We have no hesitation in recommending The Bakehouse Cafe and Roast to even the most perspicacious restauranteur touring the central district.

Visit Turangi yesterday and my friend brought me on this Place. Locals love the food I can see it this shop always busy. Neat, clean and tidy. I ordered roasted pork salad hmmmm yummy. Lots of choices for Foods, hot and cold drinks. Ordered may take a couple of minutes hence they prepared it perfectly and fong long queue during peak time. Looks need more crew in shop. I haven't check or notice the toilet.

This place has an excellent array of tasty delights from yummy breakfast plates, a bountiful selection of baked wonders, nicely priced dinner plates including scotch fillet steaks and then delectable sweets to round it all off. As a group we got chicken sticks, mince & cheese pies, steak $ cheese pies, pork & watercress pies and various caramel and fudge brownies plus coffees. All were excellent. We stopped in no our way to Whanganui from Te Puke and will definitely do so again next time we travel this route.

Fantastic little bakery - Lots of great quality food, and the pies are great (The pastry is so good!). This is the $9.90 lamb roll, also pretty great!

Great selection of party goods to sweet treats and roasts. Got a steak and cheese pie and the gravy was rich and had a generous amount of cheese! Pastry was also delicious, light and crunchy.

The food was nice here. Heaps of different kinds of food. Nice customer service. The place looks clean and tidy.

Called in for a coffee and a slice as a break from the hustle and bustle and stress of driving SH1 . . . and didn't want to leave. Huge, value for money, range of cabinet food and menu. The staff were friendly and welcoming, the food was great and the coffee was even better. The young fella waiting the tables was awesome, and nothing seemed a problem for him. Even local customers coming in were friendly and didn't hesitate to say gidday and throw a smile your way. I loved this place. It was so relaxing. There seems to be no strangers in this town, just friends you haven't met yet. Highly recommended.

The butter chicken and cheese pie really hit the spot. Was so delicious that I forgot to take a pic! Pretty decent coffee too. Cosy family style place so don’t expect a lavish interior design. Very good selection of food
